I have recently been working on a giant painting. It’s my biggest painting to date and it almost didn’t fit in my boyfriends van when we drove it home. I’ve also struggled to find space for it in my studio, because it’s not really that big. I am painting giraffes with a youthful graffiti background. It is commissioned by one of the Red Cross youth centres. It’s called Fellesverket, The House on the Corner and is located in Tønsberg. They work with a communication method where they use giraffe language. In short, it is about having what we call “Giraffe language” instead of “wolf language” to prevent or manage conflicts. In other words, you should be like a giraffe and have a good overview of a situation, antennae out, big ears, a friendly nature, curiosity and a big heart, in contrast to wolf language.
